2025 December Meeting Invitation

Our meeting for December 2025 will be on Saturday, December 20th at 10am. We are also having a Holiday get together directly following our Meeting. Beverages, sandwiches, and cookies will be provided.

Michael Coonrod’s Big Sky View Railroad

Michael’s pronto-freelance Big Sky View Railroad depicts Missoula, Montana in the 1960 with Montana Rail Link (MRL) power and plenty of custom buildings recreated from Michael’s younger days.

Bill Horning’s Rio Grande Midland Railroad

My Rio Grande Midland Railroad is loosely based on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, the Colorado Midland Railway, and other Colorado railroads.  The modeled route is between Pueblo and Grand Junction, Colorado including the Royal Gorge and Tennessee Pass. The Rio Grande Midland’s mainline is a part of the Denver to Salt Lake City route.

Ernie Barry’s East Raton and Santa Fe

The layout represents the Santa Fe mainline over Raton Pass, located in northeastern New Mexico, in 1952. It is HO scale. The configuration is a walk-in, walk around folded dog bone with a center peninsula. It has a DCC operating system, all sound equipped engines, fully signaled and dispatched. The scenery is 100% complete and the backdrop is hand painted from prototype photos.

Al Johnson’s New York Central

This freelance HO scale layout, located in Interlochen, Michigan, is designed around The New York Central Railroad in the 1950s transition period.  Volunteer operators use switch engines and road locomotives to make up freight trains to be taken around and throughout the layout. A full operating session, with 4 operators, a dispatcher, and a yardmaster takes 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours.

Jens Hensel’s LNAC

The LNAC (Louisville, New Albany, and Corydon Railway) is a freelanced Short Line railroad. In addition to the Short Line LNAC route which goes from Corydon Junction, Indiana to Corydon, Indiana, Jens’ railroad also runs between Louisville, Kentucky and Huntingburg, Indiana. Based on a late 1990’s theme, it is an HO Scale, NCE DCC, 3 level shelf layout.  The NCE Power Cab runs the entire layout supplemented by Cell Phones with the WI Throttle App.  All factories and business names are true to the area. The layout is a point-to-point operation but has continuous run capability.
